UPDATE 14 - We have picked a General Contractor!
Hey all! Another update from a couple of months ago that I wanted to get onto the blog.
We have picked a General Contractor! The firm doing the work at the building will be JCLR Construction.
How did we pick JCLR? Over the course of this year, our building team (Justin Matulewicz and I, along with a deacon from Liberti MainLine named Dave Hartsfield) got three in-depth bids from different contractors. After many rounds of conversations with the GCs and with our architects over the summer, we chose JCLR.
Why JCLR? We picked JCLR for a number of reasons. First, their price point was competitive next to our other options. Second, our architects have worked closely with JCLR on several projects, and they came highly recommended. And third, JCLR has a lot of experience doing projects in Philadelphia, and in the River Wards specifically. (For example, they worked with our architects on the major renovation of the Battery over by Penn Treaty Park). This last reason was big for me; I wanted us to go with a firm that understands how a project like this affects our future neighbors.
Join me in praying for JCLR and the work they will be doing at our future building. Pray that God would guide and strengthen their hands for the work they will do. A passage in Scripture I have prayed for our architects and construction workers is Exodus 35:30-35– God’s Spirit can fill such workers with intelligence, knowledge, and craftsmanship. Also pray that we have a strong, trusting relationship with JCLR throughout the course of this project. By God’s grace, we are already off to a great start in our planning and descoping work.
More updates to come!
