UPDATE 17 - Refurbishing Floors
I wanted to post a quick thank you today.
Over the past few months, many folks from the church (of all ages!) have come to the new building to pull up hardwood floors. They have done the tedious work of pulling the floors up (without letting them splinter); they have used angle grinders to wear down the nails; they have carried the wood and organized it downstairs; and they have transported the wood to another location for storage. It has been hundreds of hours of volunteer work.
We hope to refurbish and reuse the floors! The second floor is going to have to be entirely taken out and rebuilt with steel so it can support us while we worship. We hope to use this hardwood to serve as flooring on the new second floor. Because wood is expensive, we are hopeful that all this work will save us thousands of dollars.
Thank you to those of you who gave of your evenings and weekends to do this very tiring, inglorious work! Some of you brought your whole families. Paul Cary, the missionary we are sending to Scotland, stopped by to serve multiple times while he has been in Philadelphia raising support. Phil Stoltzfus has offered space for us to store the wood. But the person who has done the most (by far) has been Justin Matulewicz. Thank you all!!
