UPDATE 05 - How to Give to Project Sanctuary

by Stephen Wood

Hey everybody! We have started receiving questions from folks on how to start giving to Project Sanctuary. I thought I would give you all a quick FAQ! Thank you for your generosity.

When should I start giving to Project Sanctuary?

As soon as you are able! We are going to have big expenses for renovations in the coming months, so have funds available sooner will help. If you want to start getting monthly donations going, you could start them soon. My family gave a big gift in early April and started a recurring monthly donation starting in April as well.

How do I give to Project Sanctuary?

There are a couple ways to do it, but I would recommend going to the Project Sanctuary page and clicking “Give” on the bottom right of the page. From there, you can select to give a one-time gift or start a monthly donation. You can fill out the info from there. One important thing to note: on the page, you will see, under the Summary, an option to donate to Zeffy, the platform hosting the site. You do not have to donate to Zeffy, and any funds you elect to give there will not go towards Project Sanctuary. If you do not want to give to Zeffy, select “Other” from their drop down menu and put “0” in the Contribution field.

Are my donations tax deductible?

Yes. Even though we are channeling the giving through another site, it is still going to Liberti and is therefore tax deductible. Your donations to Project Sanctuary will be included in your year-end tax statement in January 2025.

Why isn’t there a thermometer showing how much has been given?

Giving initiatives always include those beloved thermometers, don’t they? We have decided not to include one on the site because it feels like such a thing makes Project Sanctuary all about money. There are many other metrics that are just as important as money but we couldn’t put in a thermometer: how many people have committed to pray regularly? How many folks have found a way to help at the building besides giving money? How are renovations progressing? How is God using the the move into this building to draw the congregation closer to Christ? Etc. But! I will be updating you all regularly with how much has come in from our $1.4 million total. I hope to post updates when we hit big milestones.

Fair enough. Where are we at now?

As of the beginning of April, we have received nearly $300k in donations. Note that this number includes all donations made for the building going into last year (such as our Advent Drive).

Thanks everyone! If you have any hiccups getting your giving going, don’t hesitate to let me know.
