[NEWS] August 13, 2021 COVID-19 Update from Pastor John

(Updated 8/13/21)

Dear Liberti Family:

In response to the recent request from city officials, we ask everyone to resume wearing masks at our Sunday services.

“Ugh. It seems like there is a COVID-related update every few weeks.” I know. This is disappointing for many, confusing for others, but also a comfort to some in our midst. The elders of the church will keep listening to local and national guidance on pandemic-related developments, and we’ll continue to get wisdom from medical and other strategic experts in our midst as we respond to government requests.

On Sundays, we will have extra masks near the door if you need one, but if you have any of these symptoms, please stay at home, where you will be able to stream the service online simultaneously at 9:00 am.

On a pastoral note, I pray that this transition will not cause contention among us. We have been through a divisive season in our culture, and various forces will continue to threaten the unity of the Church. In addition to this, of course, we are all sinners, capable of tearing each other down. But he gives more grace. In the book of Colossians, Paul urges believers to put on “compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other” (Col. 3:12-13). This is a nice idea in times of calm and common agreement, but in times of strain it is a lifeline.

If you’re struggling with anger toward someone, pray about it. Then take a risk and share it with them in the ways we've been studying. It is time to put these things to work!

With hope,
Pastor John Alexander
