2022 ADVENT
“Advent begins in the dark and moves toward the light—but the season should not move too quickly or too glibly, lest we fail to acknowledge the depth of the darkness.” —Fleming Rutledge
During the season of Advent we remember the first arrival of the long-awaited Christ, and we also look, wait and long for his return — to bring an end to all evil, to bring full and final justice, and to wipe away every tear. As Rutledge says above, “Advent begins in the dark and moves toward the light.” Below are some specific ways that we will remember those in mourning while also anticipating celebration (in addition to our normal rhythms of church life).
FUND & FURNISH A HOME
HELP US RAISE $5,000! Last year we furnished the home for the Jalil family and welcomed them with a BBQ. Through our International Missions Team, we have continued our relationship with the Jalils through English lessons and regular visitation. We’re now ready to furnish the home of another incoming refugee family, in partnership with Compound Impact! So, the elders and deacons chose to direct the first $5,000 of December's general offering to this initiative to ensure that it is fully funded — please pray about giving an usually generous gift this season to our general fund, to help us with this goal while also meeting our monthly budget.
FURNISH THE HOME! We will also need many volunteers to gather and assemble all furniture, appliances, and supplies, and then to furnish the home. Contact the deacons if you can help.
