Advent runs December 2nd - December 24th until Christmas.
Take a look at how we’ll be celebrating this season here at Liberti Church of the River Wards this season.
Advent sermon series: Kingdom Come
Four weeks before Christmas, the Church begins the season of Advent.
Advent is a season of waiting for the King, and for the Kingdom he brings. Of course, Jesus Christ has already come — but he is coming again! So, the season of Advent has a dual focus: in Jesus Christ, the Kingdom of God has already come, but there are aspects of the Kingdom that are yet to come.
During Advent this year, we are going to take a close look at the main topic of Jesus’s preaching: The Kingdom of God. What is the Kingdom of God like? Who are the subjects of the Kingdom? When will it come in fullness? Where is it now? How will it come in its fullness? Join us on Sundays this December (and for any or all of the other gatherings listed below) to enter into and also anticipate life in the Kingdom of God.
Sunday 12/2: The What of the Kingdom of God
Sunday 12/9: The Who of the Kingdom of God
Sunday 12/16: The When of the Kingdom of God
Sunday 12/23: The Where of the Kingdom of God
Christmas Eve: The How of the Kingdom of God
Sunday 12/30: The Why of the Kingdom of God
Advent Art Print Sale
You can buy Donna Ream’s Art Print at the Pay Pal link below for $25 or with cash in our Sunday morning service. Proceeds from this art print will be given to APM, our partners and local foster care agency.
Through the month of December, we will be collecting adult coats, smoke detectors, and pack ‘n plays. These items will be donated in January to our partners at APM, our neighborhood foster care agency. The coats are for those in need in the general community. The smoke detectors and pack ‘n plays are for foster families or for families reuniting with their children. In order to be cleared to have custody, households need to have smoke detectors and pack n plays. Our goal is to help make reunification and foster care possible in our city. For more information on APM please visit: www.apmphila.org.
Bring these items on Sunday morning, and you can place them in the back of our worship space (near the coffee). Thank you!
